Who Is Behind DataCloudInsights
The blog is written by senior SAP data professionals with backgrounds in modern data engineering. Before moving into the SAP world we worked with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, dbt, and Python. We know what it feels like to join an SAP project from a cloud data engineering background and not understand half the words in the kickoff meeting.
That experience is the reason this blog exists.
We explain SAP concepts through analogies that data engineers already understand. SAP Datasphere mapped to Unity Catalog. SAC Models mapped to dbt semantic layers. BDC Data Products mapped to governed Delta Lake tables. The translation guide we wished someone had given us when we started.
Our team holds active certifications in SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Business Data Cloud. We work on live SAP BDC and SAC implementations with enterprise clients including projects in the automotive and retail sectors across France and Europe.

SAP Business Data Cloud is our fastest growing content area. Our BDC architecture post is consistently our most visited page and the feedback from practitioners tells us the depth and honesty of that content is what makes it useful.
SAP Analytics Cloud is where we started. Why We Publish What We Publish
We do not write about things we have not done.
Every article on DataCloudInsights covers something we have implemented, debugged, designed, or certified. When we write that a BDC migration from SAP BW takes 12 to 18 months for a medium complexity landscape — that estimate comes from having worked those migrations. When we write that master data quality must be addressed before Joule AI delivers reliable answers — that lesson came from a project where we learned it the hard way.
We also publish honest trade-off analysis. SAP BDC is not perfect for every situation. SAC is not always better than Power BI. Datasphere adds complexity that some organisations do not need. We say these things because practitioners need honest assessments to make good architecture decisions — not because we enjoy criticising products.
